Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Marinade Spray Bottle Reviews
14 of 16 people found the following review helpful Couldn't take the heat, August 30, 2010 By Leisure Lizard (Gainesville, FL,USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Marinade Spray Bottle (Lawn & Patio) I bought this spray bottle thinking the concept was great, just spray the marinade on the meat instead of painting it on. Unfortunately the pump handle broke after only a couple of sprays. Apparently the only type of marinade you can use with this item has to have the same viscosity as water. The mixture of oil and vinegar it seems was too much for the plastic pump handle. It looks good but for all practical purposes it's useless. I will provide you with more instruction than the postage stamp size note that comes with it; if you buy this spray bottle only use clear liquids in it.
10 of 11 people found the following review helpful sprays water, nothing else?, October 18, 2010 By pdm "pdm" (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Marinade Spray Bottle (Lawn & Patio) This is a flimsy plastic bottle with a metal covering over it, and a spray head that doesn't spray anything other than water. I tested it as soon as it arrived with water and it worked fine. I've tried twice to use it with a bbq mop sauce and it has failed both times. It failed to spray even a drop with very thin apple cider vinegar mop with just a few spices in it. It couldn't pull the liquid up the straw at all. I would not recommend this.
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Neat idea but lousy product, July 10, 2011 By Scott Baker (PINEVILLE, LA, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Marinade Spray Bottle (Lawn & Patio) I am the proud owner of other items endorsed by Steve Raichlen including four of his cookbooks. Earlier this year I introduced my brother in law to the art of outdoor grilling with a gift basket that included Steve Raichlen's BBQ bible, Steve's wood chip soaker set and Steve's Chili Pepper Roasting rack. I said all of that to qualify my endorsement of Steve's other products but NOT this one.
For Fathers Day I received this as a gift and eagerly looked forward to adding this to my assortment of outdoor cooking impliments. After church we came home and lit the charcoals in my smoker (we have 2 smokers and 2 grills), mixed up my favorite rub and once the smoker reached 250 degrees loaded it up with chicken and ribs.
After 30 minutes I grabbed the nifty little marinade spray bottle filled up with apple juice (I like to sprits the meat with apple juice every 30 minutes during the smoking process), opened the lid of my smoker and pulled the trigger. On the first... Read more
